Development of a Multinational Personnel Selection System
Dr. Thomas Koch, the German head of human resource (HR) for the Asian-Pacific-region (APAC) at ComInTec AG & Co. (ComInTec) is in his way to the Hong Kongs office. He leads a multinational human resource (HR) police squad for the implementation of the bare-assed personnel office selection process. The radical process affects the locations of Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta, Melbourne, Sydney and Shanghai. He is down the stairs pressure since the firms owner (Peter Koening) is pushing the introduction of the new process. Mr Koening has threatened Mr. Koch to reduce his team by half if fails. The team faces a tense and dissent ambient with compliance to sharing the workload. There is a meeting scheduled for instantly and its priority is to consensus on three main objectives regarding the personnel selection, however, the team lost all the meeting time on mindless discussions.
The main issue faced by Mr. Koch is that he has until the polish off of the week to deliver the final and written conclusion of the new personal selection process. However, his team is not getting any conclusion due to their cultural differences.
The team is comprised of three Chinese (Yue Yu, Dai Wei and a Chinese trainee) and four German women (Andreas Muller, Sabine Weitmann, Bettina Carter and Goldmann). firstly of all, we must concord to take into account that besides the separately one background, they are from different culture and for that reason they have different approach to face conflicts and problems.
The team face the challenge to come across with meeting objectives: 1.- What individual modules the new personnel selection system should contain, 2.- Whether country-specific adaptation were necessary and feasible for to each one module and 3.- The implementation process of the new personnel performer at each APAC location.
