The Civil War was by far the worst and around impactful state of war that our rustic had ever gone through. The loss of oer five hundred thousand men, and the devastation done to our country was hard to over serve. It took decades to recover both emotionally and economically. There was an abundance of difference between the north and south that led to this war such as, striverry, land, tariffs and many more. The biggest lean between the north and the south in the 19th snow was slavery. The people who requisiteed slavery were the southernern Democrats and the ones who didnt want slavery were the Northern Republicans (document 1). There were numerous instances and compromises that came up to temporarily solve the problem. The first of these compromises over slavery was the Missouri agree in 1820. This created a line of 36 degrees 30 hours to break down the North and Souths slavery. Missouri wanted to come into the Union, the problem was it would have disrupted the balance between alleviate and slave states. So to keep the balance between knuckle down and Free states they created the line and Missouri was now a slave state and Maine came into the Union as a free state.

This was a very complex treaty because the North and South kept trying to benefit themselves as much as possible from this. The advantages the south got were that Washington DC is now a slave state, popular sovereignty in the Mexican cession, and a stricter fugitive slave law.
