Confronting Conflict

Struggling with date is something one deals with on a workaday basis. Conflict has the ability to take over almost all aspect of ones life, including behaviour, actions and thoughts. Roger is torn amid two decisions, which he struggles with internally. When Andy realizes he is dying he struggles to come to grips with the results that come from the pick he made to join a gang. Jim struggles with the feeling of existence unwanted and needs someone to save him before something horrendous happens. The struggle with conflict in each of these stories drastically affects the protagonists, just now in the end it is their decision whether they will listen to the voices about them that are encouraging them to change. Will their individual struggle with conflict lead them to triumph?
In the story Thank You Maam Langston Hughes humourously delivers two different types of conflict Roger, the protagonist, confronts. Roger struggles with an external conflict versus some other character and an internal conflict against himself.
