One would not judge that finale would have such a large tell in a lie with tommyrot, yet in Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet death runs rampant. It is not the fact that death is present in this story that is significant, but instead how Shakespeare treats death. All the ways that death is case-hardened in this story support the plot and help rouge a clearer picture in the readers head. So, how does Shakespeare treat death in this play? He treats it as an actual character in the book that is constantly sweeping lives away while too being treated as the ultimate show of love for someone, and ,finally, as an extremely woeful and lamentable occasion that causes weeping and regrets to spring forth.
In Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet death is treated as a physical being that has a very concrete and lasting impact on all the characters lives. Death is ever so present in this story - lurking behind Juliets lies to her mother or in Romeos attempt to stop the fighting. It seems that Death always has a part to play and fulfills his part every time. One of his separate is personified by this quote Flower as she was, deflowered by him, Death is my son-in-law, Death is my heir (4.5.37-38).



This quote shows that upright like any other character in the story, his actions can cause a major shift. Death is one of the main characters in Romeo and Juliet and is just as, if not more, important than any of the others.
While most commonwealth show their affection for another through hugs, kisses, and chocolates, Romeo and Juliet show their authentic love and affection for individually other through death. They each love the other so much that they can not live without, so they show their love by killing themselves so that they wont have to live without the other.
