“Death March of Bataan”
This film gives a survivors placard of the inhumane march that both Filipinos and Americans were forced to watch part of by the Japanese. The film aims to give an accurate account of the actual happenings that have been somewhat forgotten in American history. Why have American classrooms chosen to ignore this?
superior general MacArthur has been telling his troops that help would arrive so they could deal off the advancing Japanese forces. Once MacArthur was called to serve elsewhere, The debt instrument of informing the soldiers that no help was actually coming would be on the shoulders of General Wainwright. The Americans would be forced to surrender and they would accordingly take part of one of the most dread(a) margin in history.
I could not believe the things I witnessed in this film. This film really made me wonder why these things were not taught to us in American History. As one of the survivors says they merit a place in history. I completely agree, the things these survivors went through and through were beyond a nightmare. Surviving this march was nothing compendious of a miracle.
Even if the men did survive it seems that they would be stuck with the horrific memories of the march.
The survivors gave accounts of multiple times people were unable to go on with the march, these people would be either shot or bayoneted. It is rough for me to imagine the Japanese were forced to believe in a cause so great they would be able to wield prisoners of war in such fashion. There was many opportunities for Soldiers to rent water at nearby places however they were denied. If they tried to disgorge from the pack they would once again be shot.
Although it seems the Japanese were cosmos inhumane, The Americans and western colonialists had been treating the Asiatics this way for centuries in enjoin to gain the Asian Resources.
