Since the ordinal century, social workers were formed, seen in the form of friendly visitors and church members, on the nose trying to help their neighbors. At the beginning of the century visitors unspoilt a rudimentary form of social work that endeavored to littleen the burden of the poor through direct relief and prayer. (Huff, pg 1, chap.2) The briny goal of these caring people was to bring God into the lives of the less fortunate and hope that, by prayer, their live would improve. Although their generosity and handle was greatly appreciated, it was not enough to improve their health and welfare. It in brief became the responsibility of the government. After the end of feudalism, the poor were seen as a more direct threat to the social order, and so the defer formed and organized system to care for them.
